Hi. We’re the Pammers.

My dad and I have been talking about biking across the country for over 20 years now. This summer we decided to finally do it. Follow our progress here.

A Cool Day in Kentucky

A Cool Day in Kentucky

Day 24: Shelbyville, KY to Winchester, KY (68 miles, 3400 feet of climbing)

We were only planning on doing 68 miles today and with the temperature never forecasted to go above 85 we were able to start late again today. Mom wasn’t feeling so great so Dad and I went first. We rode through suburbia for a little and then onto rolling hills and fields of horses. We even saw our very first mile marker 0! Then, we rode past Frankfurt, the capital of Kentucky. The time went by fast and Mom met us after 30 miles. I offered to ride longer, but she was ready to go so off her and Dad went.

They got to ride through rolling hills and fields with horses. Maybe they rode past a future triple crown winner. The houses were beautiful and massive, and compared to San Diego very affordable. Maude and I met them 20 miles later in a very nice area of Lexington. We liked Lexington better than Louisville, but don’t think we’ll be moving to Kentucky any time soon.

After a short break, they set off to ride to the hotel. They rode on some actual bike paths, something we don’t get to do enough. They also went through the distillery district outside of Lexington, where they got to smell warm grain used to distill bourbon. It smelled very similar to a brewery. They met Maude and I at the hotel after a short day. It’s been cloudy all day, but we still went to the pool to try and get rid of our horrible tan lines.

We’re going to go for an early dinner and then we’re all looking forward to a much needed rest day tomorrow.
