Hi. We’re the Pammers.

My dad and I have been talking about biking across the country for over 20 years now. This summer we decided to finally do it. Follow our progress here.

Where It All Started

Day 3 - Oklahoma City, OK to Gallup, NM

I woke up this morning thinking about the old riddle, “How far can a person run into the woods?” Of course the answer is half way because then they would be running out of the woods. That was a long way of saying we were half way through our westward journey with only 2 days of driving to complete the trip. Today, we moved from the flatlands of Oklahoma and Texas through to the desert of New Mexico. We started early due to jet lag. We are now in mountain time zone and had smooth sailing the whole way. We are getting a bit weary of all the driving, so we will probably take a couple days to get to CA and do some exploring.

We stopped in Gallup, NM to see where Robin was born. Her father worked at the Gallup Indian Medical Center while he was doing his military service, which is why she was born here. We walked around the whole town and checked out all the pawn and art shops. There were a lot of interesting things for sale, but we have no where to put anything, so we left empty handed.

Robin lived in this house for the first 3 weeks of her life before the family drove back to New Jersey. She clearly learned early on how to survive a long road trip across the country. I suspect the house looked better 50+ years ago. It was nice visiting the town, reminiscing, and seeing places I had only heard about in stories. Time to head out to dinner, we are starving. Thanks for reading.
