Happy Birthday Scott!
Robin and I went for a bike ride this morning to make sure everything was working for our grand depart. It was a good thing we did, because there were several issues we found. After less than 100 feet of riding, it was clear my tire was not properly seated on the rim and it had a flat spot, which I felt with every rotation. So, it was back to the room for 1 hour to diagnose and fix it. We restarted the ride, and I was tired after only 10 miles. I thought, how will I ever ride across the country if I cannot handle 10 miles. Thankfully, Robin saw that my brake was rubbing on my wheel, which was slowing me down. After a quick adjustment the rest of the ride went well. We rode north to Torrey Pines and had a wonderful return trip along the coast. It was a short 40 mile ride. I think we are both ready for the real ride.
We then had a wonderful evening with Scott and Barb on Scott’s birthday. I have not seen Scott since the early days of the pandemic, so we had a lot to catch up on and it was great to meet Barb. All four of us have a lot in common and time flew by as we shared many stories. Hopefully, we will be able to spend more time with them in a future visit. Happy birthday Scott…and many more!
Tomorrow, we finally get to see Shannon and finalize the planning for our trip. It will be great to see her. Now, it is time to watch the Tour De France and go to bed. Thanks for reading.
