No Rest for the Weary
Today, was our rest day. We woke up at the crack of dawn and went for a 4 mile hike to the Devil’s Bridge in Sedona. The hike was a welcome alternative to cycling and helped our legs recover. We got to the bridge early enough to not need to wait too long to take pictures. My legs were a bit wobbly when we stood out on the most narrow part of the bridge, which was actually about 12 feet across. We were in no danger, but my mind went into self-preservation mode. The views were amazing and well worth the hike.
After breakfast, we did chores. The girls got the car and clothes washed. I cleaned the bikes and made some adjustments to make sure they will be fine for the next week of cycling.
To beat the 93 degree heat, we hung out at the pool for a couple hours before heading to town to do some window shopping. There were a ton of fine art studios and spiritual shops selling crystals, aura readings, energy healing, etc, which are not exactly our type of shops. We did buy some trinkets that will remind us of our time in Sedona. We are already tired of restaurants, so we got some sandwiches and ate at the hotel. We plan to watch the sun set over the mountains tonight before going to bed early.
Sunset last night
Tomorrow, we get back on the road at 4am to get in some miles before it gets hot. We all enjoyed our day off and look forward to seeing more from the comfort of our bicycles.
