Hi. We’re the Pammers.

My dad and I have been talking about biking across the country for over 20 years now. This summer we decided to finally do it. Follow our progress here.

Rest Day

Rest Day

Today, we relaxed, rested our legs, and caught up on some chores. First and foremost, we planned the next five days of riding and we started looking at where we may end our journey. It may sound simple to organize the rides, but it is definitely a three person job. I work on the cycling route, while Robin and Shannon search for and book dog friendly hotels. Some areas of the US are so barren, it is hard to find a town on the cycling route and we need to adjust the plan.

After planning out the next five days, I got to work on cleaning the bikes and doing minor fixes. Shannon and Robin got the car washed and restocked our supply of snacks we use throughout the day. We also bought a few things for Maude.

This downtime gave us an opportunity to reflect on the past two weeks with the following stats: 13 days on the bike, 2 rest days, 950 miles of riding, 37,389 feet of climbing, highest elevation was 9,425 feet, and lowest elevation was 51 feet below sea level. Our favorite places to stay were Durango, CO and Sedona, AZ. All our aches and pains have seemed to disappear for now.

Looking forward, we roughly mapped out a route going through Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia. We think our final destination will be Virginia Beach, but that could change. We think we have around 1,800 miles to go which should take us four weeks or so. If all goes well, we will be swimming in the Atlantic Ocean by the end of August.
