Hi. We’re the Pammers.

My dad and I have been talking about biking across the country for over 20 years now. This summer we decided to finally do it. Follow our progress here.

So what's the plan?

So what's the plan?

We have intentionally not planned very much. I would like to say it is because we want to be spontaneous and follow any path that is interesting, however, we are also a bit lazy so that may have something to do with it. Maybe we are following advice from Mike Tyson who famously said, “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth “. Regardless, we plan to have 2 people riding each day with one person driving the car and supporting the riders. Of course, this means having a car in CA for the start. Robin and I drew the short straw, so we will be driving across the country starting on June 29th. We hope to arrive in CA before July 5h to spend some time with my brother and wish him a happy birthday in person. After that, we will start the ride.

As you can see, there are a few bike friendly ways across the country. As of now, we plan to do the southern route because it is the shortest, flattest, and easiest. Remember, we are a bit lazy :). Unfortunately, the route is also the hottest with temperatures exceeding 110 degrees. It also goes through some of the poorest states in America, which may create some unique challenges as well. As of now, we plan to follow the route through Arizona and then decide if we should head north (either riding or driving) before riding east again. We are very relaxed about not needing to ride every mile or taking car rides when necessary. We make up the rules and the first two are to have fun and be safe. Only time will tell how we get across the country. Thanks for reading.
